Permeable concrete is a special type of concrete that is engineered to be at least 15% porous while still maintaining its structural properties, mainly in its compressive strength. The interconnecting pores within the concrete allow water to infiltrate through the concrete layer to the subgrade beneath.
By allowing water to flow to underground subgrade, the amount of stormwater run-off on the ground surface could be reduced significantly. This reduces the spread of pollution and land erosion caused by stormwater
